What Acceptance Really Means

“But if I accept + send love to myself right now, I won’t get to where I want to be.”

^ I had this mindset for a long time.

That if I finally accepted myself, right now as is, then I would never reach my goals. I would just mold into my couch, scroll social media for the rest of my life, and say goodbye to my desires.

So I motivated myself with hate and shamed my way into a lifestyle that would get me there.

We as humans desire to feel enough. We desire wholeness.

And for many years I not only desperately searched externally for that enoughness but oddly enough I was also simultaneously destroying and denying that sense of wholeness within myself.

Think about that for a second. When we don’t accept ourselves... when we shower ourselves with hate and shame and the consistent “I need to change because I am not good enough,” we are rejecting the very thing we crave within our own bodies.

WE are confirming the belief of “I’m not enough…”

And that’s when we bring in the acceptance.

So on todays episode I wanted to take some time to break down what Acceptance really means and how you can start using love + acceptance to motivate yourself to reaching your goals rather than turning to shame and hate.
